Take a look around you at our fellow human beings the next time you are out. I’ll bet you’ll find it hard to ignore the fact that very few people are happy. Very few people are fulfilled and living purposeful lives. Most of them seem unable to cope with their problems and the circumstances of daily living. Some of you may probably fall into that also. The majority who are settling for the average have resigned themselves to just getting by. It seems like mediocracy has become a way of life. And as a result, feelings of inadequacy cause many people to blame society, people, circumstances and surrounding conditions for their failures and disappointments and for their miserable lives.

There was philosopher/psychologist named William James who once observed that “The greatest discovery of our age has been that by changing the inner aspects of our thinking, we can change the outer aspects of our lives.” We are the co-creators in building our lives and the world around us. Someone else once said “We aren’t what we think we are, but what we think we are.” Read that sentence over and over until you understand it.

The lesson to learn is that the opposite of bravery isn’t cowardess but conformity. Sitting in the matrix and conforming. What makes people follow each other like sheep? Take a notice the next time you’re out doing something and you’ll see that sheep state of mind. Why is that? Is it because we’re trying to conform to the majority? I say it’s time to break out of that sheep state of mind. A lot of the suffering can be eliminated if we refuse to conform. And to think that our life is controlled by another person, group or society imposes a condition of mental slavery which makes us a prisoner by our own decree. This is like a man sitting in a cage with the key to the cage but he doesn’t realize that he holds the key to free himself.

Our thoughts become the blueprint which attracts from our subconscious mind all of the elements that go into fulfilling our concepts whether they are positive or negative. How are your thoughts? Are they positive or negative? Do you live in fear? Or do you live a life full of energy and power? What we have in our life right now is an outward manifestation of what is going on inside our minds. When you change your inner beliefs then you outer life will change accordingly. Our inner thoughts have attracted what we are currently experiencing in our lifes’ whether it’s good or bad, positive or negative, and success or failure. Your surrounding and your world are outward manifestations of what you think about inwardly. And there is no hiding it. You have to realize that it’s coming from inside of you. By knowing that why you are the way you are, you also find the key to being what you want to be. How many of you think about your limitations and failures? And rarely stopping to think what you might be?

One of the biggest reasons for this kind of thinking is that you have been conditioned since childhood by false concepts, values and beliefs that have prevented you to realize how truly capable and unique every one of us really are. But the good news is that you have the power to change all of your conditioning to what you want to experience in your life. You must look inside of yourself in order to achieve this. Buddha came to the same realization when he said “Be a lamp onto you own feet and do not seek outside yourself.” We all have self-healing powers within us. We all have health, happiness, abundance, peace of mind within us. These are all natural states of being. Once you break the bonds of negative thinking you realize you are the power. You must perceive your own true worth and uniqueness. And only to the degree that you can truly acknowledge your own unique importance, then you will be able to free yourself from self-imposed limitations. Yes I said self-imposed. Our parents, our boss and our society didn’t do it to us. We did it to ourselves by allowing others to control our lifes. The key word here is allow. Unless you get rid of your guilty feelings and stop stressing about your imagined inadequacies, you will continue to struggle to attain total confidence.

In order to truly be free, strong and powerful you have to first love yourself as I’ve said before. You have to love yourself. This is a must. YOU MUST LOVE YOURSELF. Some of you may be thinking this is kind of selfish. But you need to be reminded that only when we have done our best to make the most of ourselves then we can be of greater service to our family and society. A lot of people use the philosophy of service to others first as an escape of taking responsibility to changes in their own lives. They hide behind that. This is a self-deception. Why? Because you can’t change the world, but you CAN change yourself. The only way the human situation will improve is for each person to take charge of his or her own life. Get out of that mental slavery and go into the LIGHT! It’s time for us to stand up and start taking charge of our life. Nothings is more rewarding than releasing the unlimited potential and living a creating and purposeful life. It has to come from you. You have to take responsibility for your own change.
